Ultrasonic cavitation is a weight-loss treatment that uses low-frequency sound waves to break down fat cells. The process may result in a reduction in inches on the treated areas. Unlike Liposuction which requires surgery to remove fat, ultrasonic cavitation is noninvasive and involves a much easier recovery.
During the ultrasonic cavitation procedure, machines target specific body areas with low-frequency sound waves. In some cases, light suction is also used. The ultrasound waves heat and vibrate the layer of fat cells below the skin’s surface, causing them to dislodge from your skin’s layers and break apart from each other. This is known as “cavitation.” The broken-down fatty acids are then absorbed through the bloodstream and lymphatic system and burned off as energy, resulting in a slimmer figure.
There are plenty of benefits of ultrasonic cavitation, including:
· Reduced circumference in the treated area – Ultrasonic cavitation may result in a reduced circumference in the treated area. This is because it breaks down fat cells which are then flushed out through your body’s lymphatic and circulatory system.
· An overall contoured appearance – The breakdown of fatty deposits beneath the skin’s surface could contribute to a slimmer appearance.
· A natural, non-invasive procedure – The treatment doesn’t require any surgery, meaning recovery time is minimal and there are rarely any side effects. It’s a much less invasive alternative to surgical liposuction.
· Quick and painless – The procedure is relatively painless, and bruising is usually minimal. As there’s no need to prepare for surgery, as the treatment is quick and convenient. Ultrasonic cavitation is often advertised as a “lunch break procedure,” meaning the appointment can be completed in under an hour.
May help reduce cellulite – Cellulite is the visible appearance of fatty deposits beneath the skin’s surface. While many people embrace their cellulite, others may want to try and minimize it (neither is wrong!). Ultrasonic cavitation may help to reduce the appearance of cellulite by breaking down fat cells, firming the skin and improving circulation. The sound waves also stimulate collagen production within the body, which keeps skin looking firm and youthful.
Ultrasonic cavitation works by using low-frequency sound waves to break down fat cells beneath the skin’s surface. It may lead to fat loss and reduced inches in the treated area.

Before:
Before undergoing ultrasonic cavitation, you should have a consultation with the doctor who will be performing the treatment. They’ll be able to examine the areas you want treated, discuss your goals and advise you on your expectations and the number of treatments you may need.
During:
At the start of your appointment, you may be asked to put on a paper gown, depending on the area being treated. The doctor will then sterilize the treatment area using alcohol, before running a handheld ultrasonic device over the treatment area. During the procedure, you’ll hear a buzzing sound from the machine, and you may feel a warm sensation on the skin being treated. If you have ever been pregnant, you may recognize the sensation from ultrasound scans. Treatments typically last 15-75 minutes.
After:
As ultrasonic cavitation is a non-invasive treatment, you won’t need much aftercare. The treated area may feel swollen and tender for a few days following your treatment and you may experience bruising. You can use over-the-counter pain relief to manage this, but always talk to your doctor about pain management first.Your doctor may advise you to stay hydrated, follow a healthy diet and avoid alcohol and nicotine in the days following treatment. This will help the broken-down fat leave the body as energy and waste. It may be up to 12 weeks before you notice the full results of your treatment, as it takes time for your body to expel the broken-down fat
Most ultrasonic cavitation treatments require repeat appointments to achieve the desired results. Sessions may last anywhere between 15-75 minutes, depending on the frequency of appointments and the areas being treated.
If you opt for longer sessions, treatments should be completed in one to three appointments, with two weeks between sessions. For shorter sessions, you may require six to 12 appointments in a shorter timeframe.
